  • Develop a regional public transport system (to move students to campus plus transport the public who work or need medical treatment in other centres)

How about Huntsville taking the lead in getting Muskoka's act together in marketing this oasis of opportunity to the world?
Imagine an independant, non-profit, volunteer goverened Muskoka Marketing and Sustainable Prosperity Commission. The governing Board could be made up of fifteen individuals, six elected by each of the municipalities and seven from the public. The Commission could bring together the collaborative services of each municipal Economic Development Office, the Muskoka Tourism Marketing Authority, the Enterprise Centre and Muskoka Futures (especially their commercial loan and business counselling services). A private Venture Capital Fund (perhaps with municipal contributions) could also be incorporated into the Commission.
We need to act collaboratively or be left behind as an economic wasteland

Huntsville should be part of a District Wide plan to position Muskoka as a year round arts and culture destination. All of Muskoka's arts and cultural tourism products need to be developed and marketed together featuring the unique resources and characteristics of each community.
This would include visual art, performing arts (including an inventory of facilities) and culinary arts and would also include aspects of arts and culture education.
