Post Secondary Education Facility

  • Support the development of a university/college satellite campus
  • Establish a culinary school; generate more outdoor sports opportunities like skate parks and water parks; promote snowmobiling and other winter activities

As a recent retiree, I looked forward to auditing some university courses but found that I was limited locally and had to attend Nipissing in North Bay.
This was not an option for reasons of safety(winter roads), cost(fuel and wear on the car)and conscience(adding to greenhouse gases).
I am sure there are many others like myself that would value a post secondary campus in Huntsville. We have the time, the money and we want to keep the synapses firing.

I strongly agree with your efforts to bring a post secondary institute to Huntsville but I think we should set our sights a little higher. University of Guelph has nationally and internationally renowned programs in environmental studies, tourism, consumer studies, hotel and restaurant management, all programs that would fit well with our community. I believe they also have a presence at the Frost Centre.
A school such as U of G may attract applicants from southern Ontario that have a cottage or camp connection to the area.
I believe we should persue a substantial presence with permanent facilities including residences and sports facilities and not just rented office space.
I realize this is a long term goal but if attained it would permanently change our town for the better.
